Nature-inspired research to re-imagine what's possible with data structures and algorithms
Mutuus is ByteQuilt's research program which evalutes nature-inspired primitives as substitutes for classical data structures and algorithms.
With the first Mutuus research paper being published, the one describing the overall research process, it was time to give the program a proper home. Mutuus had outgrown the "coming soon" stage, and there was a growing backlog of papers, code, and simulations that needed a place to live and be discovered.
I built out a multi-page site with sections for the primitive library, simulations, research publications, case studies, and a blog. The design runs on Phino and deploys through Vercel on Next.js. The site is meant to grow alongside the research. As more primitives are evaluated and papers are published, the content expands naturally.
The interesting challenge right now isn't technical, it's strategic. Deciding what stays open source and what becomes proprietary (beyond the research itself) is a real puzzle when you're building both a research program and a product company.
Who knew being a published researcher was my evolution?
